As we move into spring and the final months of this school year (I know, it's hard to believe since we had snow YESTERDAY), I thought it might be fun to feature a few of the high school seniors I photographed back in the fall as they approach their graduations... You already know how much I love taking pictures of babies and kids as they hit major milestones, but high school graduation photos are also one of my favorite things to document!! For most families, senior portraits are the last photographic mementos of childhood before their "baby" leaves home to embark on the next step of his/her journey in college, a new city, and/or the professional world. My goal with these pictures is to capture the tiny space that exists between being a kid and being an adult and produce something special that will serve as a reminder to Mom and Dad and the grad of this exciting season of life. I adore the opportunity senior portraits allow me to see what these young people are passionate about, what their personal style is, and what their hopes and dreams are for the future. These portraits often end up in yearbooks and on the walls of family homes for years to come, so I consider it a huge honor to be asked to take them and take the responsibility seriously.
OK, let's get to it!
Today, I'm sharing some shots from my time with Emily who will be graduating from Faith Christian this year. I've known Emily and her wonderful family for years, and I even used to "babysit" her when she was younger. (She and her younger twin sisters make me laugh every time I'm around them!)
For her photos, Emily wanted to make sure to incorporate her love of horseback riding, so we invited a "special guest" to take part in the shoot. I think it's pretty clear how special her horse is to her. ;)
Emily has been riding for years, and the property where she rides made the most gorgeous backdrop for her fall pictures too.
It was, of course, a joy to spend an afternoon with this beautiful girl, and I CAN'T WAIT to see where the next year takes her!
